Hoosier Park announces casino plans

Hoosier Park president Rick Moore unveiled plans Tuesday for a 92,696-square-foot casino at the racetrack in Anderson, Ind., with the new area located north of the existing clubhouse and grandstand. Final Hambletonian wagering numbers announced

Additional wagering numbers have now come in from Norway/Denmark/Sweden on the Hambletonian Day card at the Meadowlands, with that Swedish hub betting $438,344 on the card, an increase of 97 percent from the $221,966 wagered last year. Hoosier Park in approval process

Hoosier Park’s plans for its new slots facility were granted approval by the Anderson Parks Department at its Aug. 7 meeting. Those same plans will be filed today with Anderson’s Board of Zoning Appeals. The Indiana Horse Racing Commission has handed down its most substantial penalty ever for a whipping violation as driver Josh Sutton has been suspended for six months and has agreed not to seek licensure in Indiana until June 20, 2009.
