Longtime Pennsylvania horseman Carl H. Halstead died Oct. 18 after an extended illness. He was 84. Mr. Halstead was a World War II veteran, a member of the 704 Air Corps Band. The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting Friday that Northfield Park has reached a settlement with the Ohio State Racing Commission over its 2005 dates and will file a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed. Smith Memorial Trot at Freehold Raceway Friday with a 1:58 effort over a sloppy track.
