Yonkers Raceway and the Standardbred Owners Association of New York have announced a free, $10,000 on-line handicapping contest, beginning this Tuesday, Nov. 19.   The contest is to be coordinated through Trackmaster (www.trackmaster.com/contest), and shall be run through that site, including free past performances pages for the designated contest dates. Hanover Shoe Farms has announced the stud fees for its stallions for the 2014 breeding season, and among the changes is the increase in the fee for top pacing sire Somebeachsomewhere to $30,000. Somebeachsomewhere stood for a fee of $20,000 in 2013. In addition, trotting sire Cantab Hall's book is already full and closed even though his fee was raised from $10,000 to $20,000.   ...

Larry Alan Ward, Rosecroft Raceway's paddock Judge, died Sunday, Nov. 10. He was 69.   Mr. Ward was born Dec. 19, 1944 in Wisconsin.
